We designed this app to have nothing to leak.
Every tool on Honest Online Tools runs entirely inside your browser. Your files are read, processed, and written back out on your own device. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
You can verify this yourself
Open your browser's developer tools and go to the Network tab, then use any tool on this site with a file of any size. You'll see the page load its code and fonts, a usage ping to our analytics and — for some tools — an on-device engine (OCR, SQL or diagrams) fetched from this same site when you first use it. What you will never see is a request carrying your file, your screenshots, or their contents, because our code never makes one. The analytics work off which pages and tools you use, never off the files you open — and that's something you can check, not just take on faith.
Hosting isn't the same as uploading
We host the Honest Online Tools app itself on Vercel, the same way any website is hosted. That means Vercel serves you our static code — HTML, JavaScript, fonts — the same code for every visitor. It has nothing to do with your files: those never leave the browser tab you're using, so there's nothing about them for Vercel, or us, to receive. Like any website host, Vercel does receive your IP address and browser details whenever a page loads, and keeps standard server logs under its own privacy policy.
What we track — and why
We use Vercel Analytics to see which pages and tools get used, so we can spot what's popular and decide which tools to build next. For each page view it records the page address, the page you came from, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. It sets no cookies and doesn't build a profile that follows you across sites. It never records the files you open or anything you do inside a tool — those are read on your device and are never uploaded to us. We don't show ads or run any advertising code right now.
Some tools remember your work — on this device only
The Tier List Maker, the Text Card Maker, the Home Airflow & AC Planner and the Markdown Viewer save what you're working on in your browser's own storage, so a reload doesn't lose it; the Text Card Maker also keeps your last font, size and colour choices for the next card, and the cards you start over from in Recently Deleted for 30 days, clearing out older ones the next time you open it; the Markdown Viewer keeps the text of the open file until you close it or open another. Your light/dark theme choice is saved the same way. That copy stays on your device and is never sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes it. Choosing EN or 中文 at the top of the page sets a small lang cookie so the site remembers your language; it holds nothing else.
Who handles your data, and your rights
The only personal data we handle is the usage data described above and any email you send us. We use the usage data on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which tools are used and improving them. Vercel processes it for us as a service provider, under its own privacy policy; it may be processed in the United States and other countries where Vercel operates. We keep the usage data for as long as Vercel's Analytics service keeps it, and we keep emails only as long as needed to answer them. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, Taiwan or California), you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to our use of it, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Write to the address below and we'll answer. Because the usage data isn't tied to your name or an account, we may not be able to find your records, but we'll tell you if so.
We keep this page current
We treat being upfront about what we collect as an ongoing commitment, not a one-time disclosure: whenever what we collect changes, we update this page to match. We don't show ads today. If we ever do, we'll update this page before they go live, keep them clearly labeled and out of the way of the tools, and never design them to trick a click. And if we ever add features that genuinely need a server — accounts, saved history, heavier processing than a browser can handle — we'll label them clearly, explain exactly what data they touch, and keep them opt-in and separate from the local, no-upload tools you use today. We won't quietly change what “processed locally” means.
