We designed this app to have nothing to leak.
Every tool on Honest Online Tools runs entirely inside your browser. Your files are read, processed, and written back out on your own device. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
You can verify this yourself
Open your browser's developer tools and go to the Network tab, then use any tool on this site with a file of any size. You'll see the page load its code and fonts, a usage ping to our analytics, our advertising code, and — for some tools — an on-device OCR engine fetched from this same site when you first use it. What you will never see is a request carrying your file, your screenshots, or their contents, because our code never makes one. The ads and analytics work off which pages and tools you use, never off the files you open — and that's something you can check, not just take on faith.
Hosting isn't the same as uploading
We host the Honest Online Tools app itself on Vercel, the same way any website is hosted. That means Vercel serves you our static code — HTML, JavaScript, fonts — the same code for every visitor. It has nothing to do with your files: those never leave the browser tab you're using, so there's nothing about them for Vercel, or us, to receive.
What we track — and why
We use Vercel Analytics to see which pages and tools get used, so we can spot what's popular and decide which tools to build next. We also run Google AdSense to keep the tools free. AdSense is personalized advertising: it uses cookies and, where you allow it, builds an interest profile to choose which ads you see — you can read how Google uses this data at policies.google.com. All of this works off which pages and tools you use — never off the files you open or anything you do inside a tool. Those are read on your device and are never uploaded or stored.
We keep this page current
We treat being upfront about what we collect as an ongoing commitment, not a one-time disclosure: whenever what we collect or how we advertise changes, we update this page to match. The advertising itself we keep tasteful — clearly labeled, kept out of the way of the tools, never designed to trick a click. And if we ever add features that genuinely need a server — accounts, saved history, heavier processing than a browser can handle — we'll label them clearly, explain exactly what data they touch, and keep them opt-in and separate from the local, no-upload tools you use today. We won't quietly change what "processed locally" means.
